My experience wedding dress shopping was a little lack luster. Tradition demands that a Southern bride be in a glamorous ball gown. Well that ain't my style. Ultimately, I ordered a dress online, but I did go try dresses on with my mom for the experience. I am not a traditional Southern gal. I did not want a ball gown, crown, or any other garment or accessories related to Cinderella or princesses. I tend to fall under the Southern gothic style in full with tattoos and a closet full thrift finds and neutrals. So I asked the saleswoman if they had any plain sheath dress, to which she replied "we don't DO that look here," thus an experience was had. I found my dream dress on the Internet at
BHLDN.
Beca and Rachel wore J.Crew silk chiffon dresses in the pine green coloration in the style of their choosing. My Nashville buddy, Otis James, crafted handmade ties for the gentlemen. Check out his creations at
Otis James Nashville. Moreover, I didn't want a bunch of identical twins standing next to me so the styling was their own.
The decor of the day was rustic and clean. Mason jars filled with rosemary and baby's breath graced the aisle with candlelight creating amber hues. I am obsessed with blue thistle. It has great color and texture so they were in the bouquets and boutonnieres along with some other picks. Boehm Block & Board, that we featured on the blog
here created, organic shaped blocks for the cake stand and table center pieces. We gave awesome "spread the love" jams to our guests as favors and they were created by
Sweet Caroline Jams. Overall it was picturesque event.
Hugs,
Maggie
