Happy Halloween

Yay!! It's Halloween. It's also our last day in Tucson before we move. I'm making worms in dirt cupcakes for our going away party. I lost my phone. UGH! So frustrating. Here is my last day of Fall Fashion from Emery-Jo's Fall Fashion Week.
What I wore:
Some weird thrifted dress
Purple and gray stripped leggings from F21 last year
Boots from Forever 21 that I got for $2 at the flea market
I have to make cupcakes now. SOOO stressed out.

Saturday

I forgot all about doing Fall fashion today, so I look kind of grungy, but we have SO much to do today, that I don't really care.
What I wore:
Black tank top Forever 21
Black skirt Forever 21
Thrifted flannel scarf
Vintage Yellow Suede Keds Boots
(I squeezed Charlie for this photo, and Ollie couldn't stay away, he's my shadow)

We stayed out way too late last night and I woke up with a killer headache this morning (which, for a straight arrow like me, is pretty rare! I blame the horrible music at red room last night and the so very sad hot chocolate that wasn't even hot. I was ultra grumpy by 3am) Anyways. we woke up pretty early to go to the swap meet this morning with Doug's Dad and Step-Mom. I wanted to say goodbye to Sid, and take advantage of the killer oddities we find here.

Best find of the day: Lil Miss No Name. SO RAD! I'll take photos later.

I HAVE to finish packing today. No exceptions. Doug is going to get his shoulders shaded in, and I am going to pack like crazy.

And, this song. Oh..this song.

I'm a WINNER!!! (in so many ways)

So, on a whim (I've NEVER entered contests on the internet, heck, I've only had my blog for 2 months) I entered a little give-away on The Dainty Squid. I was already so in love with the shop doing the give-away, This and That From Japan, and their Matryoushka fabric and stamps. I'm super stoked. I WON! A $25 gift certificate. I'm definitely getting this...

Also, wen't to forever 21 today and bought an entire new outfit for under $15. Stoked about that too. It's really rare that I buy new clothes, much less "new" new clothes.

It's our last weekend in Tucson. Ah! I can't wait until Monday. Except I heard back from the landlord and we can't actually move into our house until Wednesday, so it looks like Greg and Paula will be getting extra cupcakes from us for letting us and our brood camp out for a day or so.

And I'll leave you with something cute.

And an old photo that makes my heart burst!
Have a good weekend and I'll try to update before the big move on Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahh!!!

xo!

It's not fall!

What I wore:
Vintage polka dot pocket dress
Keds Navy and White Sneakers

Yay, Dougie, for playing photoshoot with me. And, YES, it is 92 degrees in Tucson right now. This is my fall fashion, unfortunately, because if you know me at all, you know I love wearing layers and layers of clothing. Anyways, check out emery jo's sweet little blog that is hosting this fun week of fall fashion.

Going to the mall with Alita now!

Fall Fashion and MOVING!

So, I thought I'd join in at least one day. On a day I actually wear normal clothes instead of moving, junky clothes or the black teeshirt and jeans I usually wear. Anyways, here is it.

What I'm wearing:
Doug's vintage straw hat
Thrifted pretty yellow dress
(The tag was cut off, so who knows where it's from)
Levi's straight leg jeans (my favs!)
Vintage boating shoes GH Bass & Co.
and of course my trusty D&G glasses. Love.

And here is the link to this super cute blog that is hosting this fall fashion week. You should do it too, because it's fun and a little distraction to the chaos of my life right now.

And, as the moving and cleaning and such continues, this is what our house looks like right now. Just so you can share in my total and complete overwhelming frustration. haha.

MOVING! One garbage bag at a time!
Did you notice that there is an animal in almost every corner of our house!
And PS, do you see how empty the swamp room is??? Yeah!! I did that today, at least...
Now, to finish that kitchen, it's awful!

xo!

Soup kind of day!

We had really delicious New England Clam Chowder for lunch and are watching "The Midnight Murder Train." I am trying to list a few more items before I close up shop for the weekend, and sending off the edited photos that Doug took last night for a motorcycle photo shoot. They look so good and I'm always so proud of the work he does.

I am making more progress with packing. I am still in shock and awe as to how much stuff we have. It's been hard to downsize but so good for us. The older I get the more I want to get rid of things. Having a really rad shop DOESN'T help because sometimes there is stuff in our shop that I really really want to keep. At least I get to keep it for a little while, right?

I am so juiced up on coffee right now, I feel like I can finish packing today! Wouldn't that be amazing. I keep opening up Google Maps and looking at our house on satellite. I can't wait to move in. The verdict has been that no matter what, we're leaving Monday and if we have to camp out until the floor is ready, we will, but cross your fingers that our floor will be ready on Monday! Or Tuesday at the latest! OKAY, back to packing!

PS

(these still make me smile everyday)

UGH!

This is how I feel today. Too many words to fit in a word bubble. Obsessively thinking about everything that is happening, worrying, worrying, stressing out, trying to fit too much in a box, not enough in another, sweeping, cleaning, stressing. Ugh! I just keep telling myself FIVE MORE DAYS!!!!

Here are some things that make me feel less stressed out, and very very happy.

This was our portrait in front of our Christmas tree (that you can't see) last Christmas. It was the first tree I have had since I was 8 years old. We NEVER had christmas trees at my Mom's house and my roommates had always gotten trees, but they had never been mine! Doug picked this tree out with me and we decorated it and I was totally in love. I can't wait to celebrate Christmas this year in our new house!! I have more ornaments from estate sales and the like that I have been collecting and am super excited to use!
OWL CUPCAKES! I'm going to make these after I get my kitchen set up in SD. I want to make some cupcakes for Greg and Paula as a huge thank you for everything. These may be the ones.
Bedazzled Taxidermy by Angela Singer She is one of my favorite taxidermy artists. Her work is incredible and if I cold afford it, I would have all of her work in our house.
Oh, and I stopped by the old bakery I used to manage, to pick up a thank you box of treats for the post office I go to every day. A little good-bye gift. I also got a box of Halloween cupcakes for Doug that Jes baked. When I hired Jes, I knew I made the right choice, and now she is running that kitchen. Cupcakes are her specialty.

You should visit her pretty blog and etsy store ilaughyellow
Can you tell how much I adore her? I hope she knows it too...

I CAN'T get motivated today. Doug has been doing stuff all day and I can't get moving. Oh well, I guess now is better than never. I have a to-do list that makes me sick just looking at it.

Taxidermy Birds Head in a Vintage Jar

Ooh! A recovered birds head encased in resin in a vintage glass jar.

Now available in our shop.

Today has been stressful, already. Our house might not be ready on the first, which is frustrating, but we'll just have to wait until Thursday to find out for sure. On the plus side, they are completely remodeling the place, new tile, new appliances, new everything! They've just had some rain and are a few days behind schedule. That's really exciting! I guess the best advice I can give myself is to just breathe, keep packing, keep cleaning, and just stay busy. Regardless, we will be living n our new home within a week and it's all still very, very exciting.

I'm baking an asparagus, broccoli and feta quiche right now and it smells amazing. I might make some pumpkin cookies later and get more done on my to-do list.

Going Strong

I know this is my third update today, but honestly, the first two didn't really count as updates since they were strictly shop updates. Doug already fell asleep, and I am working on a new painting, watching South Park (Satan's Super Sweet 16,) eating pumpkin seeds and drinking a Coke. Here's a few little snapshots of the series I've been working on.

I'm pretty excited about these little paintings.
Doug and I went to Target earlier to get some batteries for his flashes (he has a photo shoot on Wednesday) and we found this awesome Halloween costume for Ollie. I am ridiculously excited. Doug's going to take real photos in our studio this week before we break it down for the move. Yay! (PS, HOLY HOLY we move in 5 days!!!!!!!!)

He looks SO cute! I love it!!
Okay. Now I'm going back to painting and snacking and South Parking.
Double xo!

Gold Skull and Lucky Devil's Claws

New items in the shop include a gold coyote or fox skull recovered in Arivaca, Arizona.

Also a bunch of Devil's Claws the twins and I recovered at the farm yesterday. I painted a bunch of them in great metallic reds and golds and some black and green ones also.

and right now, we are preserving a recovered bird head in a vintage glass jar. So pretty. It will be in the shop later today or tomorrow. That's it for updates right now. Visit the shop.

Monday Shop Update

Happy Monday! Enjoy! We should have some new great items in the shop within the next few days, then taking a break for about 10 days to move, settle, breathe. I am crossing my fingers a little package from Doug's mom came in the mail today. She may be the best treasure hunter I know!

Agua Linda Pumpkin Patch

What an awesome, exhausting, amazing Sunday. We took the twins to the pumpkin patch in Amado that Alex's family owns today. Whoa. SO many people and kids and lines and pumpkins and did I mention how many children there were. It was a total blast though. Took a million photos, got some pumpkins, ate hot dogs and pumpkin pie, rode ponies (the kids did, we didn't!!) and ran around for like 3 hours.
On the way there, in the van, we wore our boots to go to the farm!

Amado is about 40 minutes from Tucson. Eloy fell asleep instantly, but Oraibi and I had a good old time the whole way there, making faces and telling stories and looking at the mines.

The farm was a lot of fun, with a petting zoo, a hay-maze (for the kiddies) pony rides that Alex was running and of course, pumpkins!

Pumpkins!!

and finally, the twins wanted to take photos and I love these pictures Oraibi took of me.

Okay. I guess since the final week is starting, I have a lot of packing to do and about 25 devils claws to spray paint gold and list in the shop. I'll post about that later tonight, I'm sure.

Migraines and Six Feet Under Saturday!!

I have had the gnarliest migraine all day today. That means that I spent most of the day curled up on the couch, throwing up, and being grumpy. The plus side is that I got to watch movies and Six Feet Under. We watched "Moon" this morning while we ate pumpkin pancakes for a late breakfast. It was very intense. That was before my headache got bad, but if I get a migraine, it always gets way worse after I eat. Then started our Six Feet Under marathon. We're starting over because Doug hasn't seen any of it. I used to be hooked. It's such a good show. We ordered pizza and since I haven't changed out of my pajamas today, I have no intentions of leaving the couch until bedtime!

Pumpkin patch and twin party tomorrow morning!!!

Paintings

All I want to do today is paint little pictures. Here is one I just finished. My scanner is packed away so I wont have a good copy of any of my paintings until after we move.

Boo!

This Bunch is Most Beautiful.

Stayed out way to late, drank way too much caffeine (my one and only vice!) and slept through my alarms. I was supposed to take our roommate to the dentist to get his wisdom teeth pulled but he left without waking me up, Doug is late to work, and I am way to sleepy. I did have a lot of fun last night though. Went to red room with the boys. It was super mellow.

This one gets me every time. <3

As of this morning, we have 10 more days until the move! Today is Doug's last day of work at the school. I am so ready to go!
Remember last night when I said all my boys were on the sofa with me while I was working. Doug took this photo. It warms my heart. And yes, I know, all of our babies have matching markings and coloration. So weird.
